The Band - The Weight from The Last Waltz (1978)

This beautiful rendering of The Weight by the Band got my attention thanks to a friend thrice removed.

Oh, and I want further to investigate Danish folk-metal. Don't let me forget that.

Boo hoo, I want to be sleeping, but my tummy is hurting. I forgot to take my medicine this morning so I didn't get it until evening and am wondering if that could be the culprit -- or if it's something I ate. Hopefully the bicarbonate of soda & ginger/chamomile/mint tea will kick in soon and allow me to return to bed.

I still owe you an email, dear Marcell . . .

and I am looking forward to receiving it! But you take your time... E-Mail is a pain. 10 years ago we took two weeks writing a letter. Sending. Waiting. Etc... That made each single one a precious thing. E-Mail has devalued that (a little).

read you

did you find this version of "the weight" via a comment on osmium? if not, then by sheer coincidence I, too, have recently seen this.

trainspotter, too true. anticipation can be so sweet. and there was the measured quality of every word painstakingly rendered for the other one's eyes only. even a personal email seems less individual, somehow. i will never forget photographs, smudged letters, sand from a beach -- so different from 0s and 1s.
